Kamp Kaleo is a nature-filled oasis of quiet and serenity located in central Nebraska on the southeastern edge of the beautiful Sandhills region. The camp sits right on the banks of the scenic North Loup River, just outside of Burwell, home of Nebraska’s largest rodeo (on Nebraska Highway 11, a designated Scenic Byway).

In addition to summer church camps, Kamp Kaleo is also a wonderful place to hold your church, corporate board of directors, civic or any other type of retreat.  And it’s a great place to have your family reunion.  For more information about using the Kamp Kaleo facilities, please call or e-mail:

Kamp Kaleo is the location of summer church camps for the United Church of Christ (Nebraska Conference) and the Christian Church (Disciples of Christ) in Nebraska.  For summer church campers, Kamp Kaleo offers great fun, friendship, and fellowship.  

For 2012, in addition to all the memorable traditional camp activities like swimming, tubing in the river, hiking, crafts, music, and campfire vespers, the curriculum includes the “Secrets of the Kingdom” study series, that will draw campers of all ages closer to God.

The church summer camping program is administered by the Outdoor Ministries committee of the two denominations. Outdoor ministry is an expression of the church that consecrates, sets apart times, places and events to provide people with the opportunity and resources to build a relationship with God, God's people, and God's creation for the United Church of Christ And the Christian Church (Disciples of Christ) In Nebraska.

The camp facilities are owned by the non-profit corporation, Kaleo On The River.  In addition to overseeing the operation of the camp, KOTR’s mission is to create opportunities for new and varied uses of the facilities, as well as secure funding that will enable necessary upgrading and construction.  If you would like to help fund those improvements, serve  on a committee, or do a special project please contact:     Jim Becker, Chairperson of Kaleo On The River
